This is a “bucket list” opportunity to tour and visit the famous Normandy Landing Beaches of Operation Overlord in Normandy, France that began the liberation of Europe in WW II. You’ll spend 3 full days with an expert Normandy battlefield guide who will guide the group to select museums of importance and locations of significant battle action and events. You’ll visit several sites made famous in movies like Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, and the Longest Day. Walk the sacred sands of Omaha Beach and visit the American Cemetery. Stand on the cliffs of Point du Hoc where American Rangers scaled the cliffs. You’ll walk the German trenches and gun bunkers some with guns still in place where MG42s and 88mm artillery rounds rained hellfire down on the 5 beaches. You’ll even explore the 5-story German command bunker now restored and now open to the public.
There’s dozens of museums to visit but we’ll focus on the top rated for the best experience possible. Visit the Battle of Normandy Museum, the only museum to encompass the history of all 5 beaches in one museum. We’ll stop at the famous 101st Airborne Museum where you can experience a simulator of the airborne jump into Normandy under fire as well as the incredible history of the famous jump. Visit the Caen Memorial Museum which is well known as the best D-Day museum in the world where you see amazing exhibits and even an optional video experience depicting the battle with actual photographs and video footage that immerses you into the battle.
